Advancing Research for STXBP1 and Related Disorders
Discover Our Comprehensive Research Strategy and Scientific Achievements: Embark on Our Ambitious Journey Towards the Development of Innovative Therapeutic Solutions
Our Strategic Plan for a Cure
When the doctor delivered the devastating news, “There is no cure,” we were heartbroken. However, we chose to think differently. In the weeks that followed, we began to develop our strategic plan aimed at finding an effective treatment and, ultimately, a cure. Our plan is divided into three distinct phases that are running in parallel
Immediate Action and Quick Wins
Short Term (0-2 Years)
Developing personalized genetic therapies.
Mid Term (3-5 Years)
Pioneering Future Cures
Long Term (6-8 Years)
What We’ve Built So Far
Our research began with Raphael’s diagnosis, but it has grown into a global effort to develop real therapies for STXBP1. What started as a personal challenge now drives a multi-institution research program spanning drug repurposing, ASO therapy, and next-generation disease models.
Our Robust Disease Models Platform
We study STXBP1 across a broad spectrum of biological and computational models, from molecules, cells, brain organoids, and C. elegans to advanced systems like mouse models and rat chimeras. Each model offers a different window into how the disorder works and how potential therapies might help.
Our Multi-Modal Therapeutic Pipeline
At Rafa’s Moonshot, we’re building a multi-modal therapeutic pipeline to treat STXBP1-related disorders from repurposed molecules already reaching patients to next-generation genetic therapies now in development. Each program is advanced in collaboration with leading labs and clinicians in Israel and Worldwide.
Our Research Partners
We collaborate with leading researchers and scientists from top universities, pharmaceutical companies, and biotech firms worldwide.
“Our collaboration with Rafa’s Moonshot underscores a vital truth: we are better together. United, we’re driving forward in the fight against STXBP1 disorders, amplifying our impact and bringing hope through shared innovation.”
